Let us start with what we do not do as well as they do, because it is the only way to make the rest credible. Shopify unifies the website’s stock and the store’s into one figure, and nobody does that as cleanly. A sale at the counter decrements the site within the second, and the reverse too. Catalogue, customers, orders, reports: one place. That is a real advantage. Here now is what it costs in Morocco, and the alternative we offer.

The short answer
- The concession first: Shopify is better than us on single stock. If you already sell with them, that is a serious argument and we do not dispute it.
- But Shopify Payments does not cover Morocco, so the card acceptance side of the setup does not work here.
- The real cost is about 72,000 MAD over five years with Basic and POS Pro, for a single location.
- Our answer: BelloPOS at the counter plus BelloCommerce online. The plans are 190, 590 and 990 MAD a month, and BelloPOS is included free with the Pro plan.
- And the prices are in dirhams, with payment through a Moroccan gateway, which settles the point that blocks with Shopify.
The solutions compared
Two ways of selling to the same customer in two places. One is a single platform built abroad, the other an offline till paired with a Moroccan online shop.
Shopify POS
Shopify’s till, in two tiers: POS Lite, included with any Shopify subscription, and POS Pro, an add-on billed per retail location. Its reason to exist is to make online stock and in-store stock one single stock.
BelloPOS
Our Windows till software, built in Morocco. It runs 100% offline: no sale depends on the connection. The interface and the receipts exist in French, Arabic and English. Three tiers: Lite free for life, Go and Pro bought once, never subscribed to.
The comparison, criterion by criterion
The criteria that matter when you sell both online and in store.
| The criterion | Shopify POS + Shopify | BelloPOS + BelloCommerce |
|---|---|---|
| Single stock between site and store | Yes, natively and perfectly. It is their best argument and it is real. | Yes, between BelloPOS and BelloCommerce, with syncing arranged to suit your setup. |
| Card acceptance in store | No in Morocco. Shopify Payments does not cover the country and the readers depend on it. | Your bank’s terminal in store, a Moroccan payment gateway online. |
| Online payment in Morocco | Requires a third-party gateway, Shopify Payments being unavailable. | A Moroccan gateway, built for this market. |
| Price | From $39/month for Shopify, + $89/month per location for POS Pro. | BelloCommerce Go 190 MAD, Pro 590 MAD, Max 990 MAD a month. BelloPOS included with the Pro plan. |
| Currency and invoicing | Dollar, with exchange fees and an invoice issued abroad. | Dirham, Moroccan invoice. |
| The till works without a connection | Limited degraded mode. | Yes, BelloPOS is 100% offline. Only the online shop needs internet, which is normal. |
| Languages | Many, international orientation. | French, Arabic and English, in store and online. |
| App ecosystem | The richest on the market, no comparison possible. | Narrower, and we say so plainly. |
| Support | International, another time zone. | Darija, French, Arabic, in Moroccan hours. |
| Who it suits | A business already established on Shopify, operating in a country Shopify Payments covers. | A Moroccan business wanting to sell online and in store, in dirhams and with a till that does not stop. |
What it really costs over five years
The cost of both complete setups, in dirhams and over five years. The BelloCommerce Pro line includes BelloPOS, so there is nothing to add.
| The solution | Over 1 year | Over 3 years | Over 5 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify Basic alone ($39/month), POS Lite included | 4,399 MAD | 13,198 MAD | 21,996 MAD |
| Shopify Basic + POS Pro ($39 + $89/month per location) | 14,438 MAD | 43,315 MAD | 72,192 MAD |
| BelloCommerce Go (190 MAD/month) | 2,280 MAD | 6,840 MAD | 11,400 MAD |
| BelloCommerce Pro (590 MAD/month, BelloPOS included) | 7,080 MAD | 21,240 MAD | 35,400 MAD |
| BelloPOS Go (9,000 MAD, once) | 9,000 MAD | 9,000 MAD | 9,000 MAD |
The amounts above are worked out from the public prices recorded on 27 July 2026, with VAT added where a price is quoted excluding tax, and with no commercial discount. For prices in dollars, the rate used: 1 USD = 9.4 MAD, recorded 27 July 2026. Redo the sum with the day’s prices before you decide: they move, and it is your money.
Compare the two complete setups. With Shopify you need the subscription plus POS Pro, about 72,000 MAD over five years. With us, BelloCommerce Pro at 590 MAD a month includes BelloPOS at no extra cost, or 35,400 MAD over the same period: the online shop and the till for less than half, in dirhams, and with a till that keeps selling when the connection drops.
What Shopify does better, in detail
Single stock between the online shop and the store. That is a real advantage and it deserves saying plainly: if you already sell on Shopify, a sale at the counter decrements the website’s stock within the second, and the reverse too. Catalogue, customers, orders and reports sit in one place. No assembly of two tools does that as cleanly as a product designed as one, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
The concession deserves going further, because it is not limited to stock. Their app ecosystem is without equal: there is an extension for nearly everything, from loyalty programmes to shipping rate calculation. Their click and collect handling is mature. Their themes are good and their editor is pleasant. On the question of the e-commerce platform alone, Shopify is a global benchmark and we do not claim to play in that category.
Our argument is therefore not “we do it better”. It is narrower and more checkable: for a Moroccan business, a significant part of what you pay them for is unusable here, and the whole costs twice what the local equivalent does.

How the alternative works, in practice
The setup is simple to describe. BelloPOS runs the counter, offline, with the catalogue, stock, receipts in three languages and your bank’s terminal for cards. BelloCommerce runs the online shop, with your prices in dirhams, a Moroccan payment gateway and local delivery. Both share your catalogue.
The BelloCommerce plans are public: Go at 190 MAD a month, Pro at 590 MAD and Max at 990 MAD. The point that matters for this article is that BelloPOS is included free with the Pro plan. In other words, at 590 MAD a month you have the online shop and the till, with no extra licence to buy and no per-location subscription.
Let us be honest about the trade-off. Our plugin ecosystem is far narrower than Shopify’s, and if your business depends on a specific app available only with them, this page will not change your decision. We answer a simpler need, but we answer it in the right currency and the right languages.
The point that decides it, if you sell in Morocco
Neither Shopify Payments nor Square processes card payments in Morocco. Shopify lists 46 countries and regions for Shopify Payments, Morocco is not among them, and Shopify’s card readers depend on that service. Square, for its part, writes that card acceptance is available “in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, France and Spain” and that it does not support payment processing outside those countries. In practice you can use these tills as a catalogue and a stock tracker, take cash and go through a separate bank terminal, but the brand’s own payment hardware will not work in your shop (checked 27 July 2026).
How to choose: the twenty-minute method
The general method, with the three questions specific to selling on two channels.
- Count your real needs before you look at a single price. How many tills, how many users, do you invoice businesses, do you need stock, do you take delivery orders. Five answers, and half the offers rule themselves out. Our guide to choosing a till works through this questionnaire.
- Test the checkout, not the demo. Ask to ring up ten items, one return and one split payment, yourself, and time it. A well-rehearsed demo tells you nothing about what your cashier will face on a Saturday.
- Pull the internet cable and try to sell. That one test splits the whole market in two, and it takes thirty seconds. We go through it in detail in our offline or cloud POS comparison.
- Ask for an export of your own data before you pay anything. Products, customers, sales, in a file you can open. If the answer is vague, you already know how this ends.
- Add up five years, not one month. A subscription is compared with a one-off purchase over the time you will actually use it.
- Check that the receipt prints correctly in Arabic before you commit. On a thermal printer that is not a given, and it takes a minute to see.
- Ask who answers the phone on a Saturday at 8pm, and in which language. That is exactly when a till breaks.
- Check the online payment gateway accepts Moroccan cards, before anything else.
- Make a sale in store and check the website’s stock within the minute.
- Count the complete setup, not the till alone: online shop plus till, over five years.
What each solution does better
Shopify POS
Single stock between the online shop and the store. That is a real advantage and it deserves saying plainly: if you already sell on Shopify, a sale at the counter decrements the website’s stock within the second, and the reverse too. Catalogue, customers, orders and reports sit in one place. No assembly of two tools does that as cleanly as a product designed as one, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Mistakes to avoid
- Comparing a till alone with a complete setup. Always add the online shop and the till on both sides.
- Forgetting POS Pro is billed per location. Two stores double that line.
- Choosing a platform whose payment gateway does not cover your country. It is the most common blocker in Morocco.
- Building the store’s till on an online solution when the premises’ connection is unreliable.
- Neglecting the shop’s language. A Moroccan site that does not offer Arabic cuts itself off from part of its market.
Frequently asked questions
Does Shopify POS work in Morocco?
The software yes, card acceptance no: Shopify Payments lists 46 countries and regions and Morocco is not among them, and their card readers depend on that service. For the online shop you need a third-party payment gateway.
Is Shopify better at unifying stock?
On that specific point, yes, and we say so willingly: a platform designed as one syncs better than two paired tools. It is their best argument and it is legitimate.
What does Shopify with the till cost in Morocco?
A Basic subscription from $39 a month plus POS Pro at $89 a month per location, about 14,400 MAD a year and close to 72,000 MAD over five years, excluding exchange fees.
What does BelloCommerce with BelloPOS cost?
The BelloCommerce plans are 190 MAD a month for Go, 590 MAD for Pro and 990 MAD for Max. BelloPOS is included free with the Pro plan, which puts the online shop and the till at 590 MAD a month, or 35,400 MAD over five years.
Does the till work if the internet drops?
Yes: BelloPOS is 100% offline desktop software, so the store keeps selling normally. Only the online shop stops, which is logical and has no consequence for the queue at the counter.
Can I sell in Arabic online?
Yes, BelloCommerce and BelloPOS exist in French, Arabic and English, in store and online. For a Moroccan business, offering Arabic on the shop is not a detail, it is a real share of the market.
Our recommendation
If you already sell online on Shopify and you are happy, stay. Add POS Lite for the store, plan a separate bank terminal, and do not buy their reader. Changing e-commerce platform costs more than the subscription difference.
If you are starting to sell online today in Morocco: BelloCommerce Pro at 590 MAD a month, with BelloPOS included. Prices in dirhams, payment through a Moroccan gateway, Arabic and French online and in store, and a till that does not stop.
If you only sell in store, pay for neither: BelloPOS Lite is free for life and BelloPOS Go at 9,000 MAD covers an established business. The online shop will come when you genuinely need it.
